What Is Somatic Therapy

Somatic therapy is a body-based approach to healing that focuses on the nervous system, physical sensations, supportive touch, and present-moment awareness. Rather than working only through conversation or spa-style massage, somatic therapy combines the best practices from touch and talk therapy for long-term symptom and trauma resolution.

In somatic therapy sessions, we will start seated, and I will help guide your nervous system out of its chronic stress response. We may use movements, breath, visualizations, or physical somatic tools in addition to the bodywork component. This is a safe space to gently feel through emotions that are causing discomfort, and to discover deeper-rooted blockages that you may not be aware of.

Somatic bodywork is not about reliving past experiences. It is about creating enough safety for the body to heal itself and release patterns of tension and overwhelm. Some clients say they get the best sleep of their lives after. Some say this is the first time they have felt so peaceful since childhood. Regardless of your experience, you will learn about yourself and take a step toward nervous system regulation.

I found Ryan when I was seeking somatic healing for PTSD. Ryan’s combination of education, skills and gifts have started to open me up in powerful ways. He has been respectful, kind, intuitively aware and effective. His is a safe and nurturing space.

I met Ryan through friends and he told me about his job, body work. After chatting a bit I decided to set up a session to try and find some relief in my left shoulder/scapula that I had been struggling with for over 5 months. After the first session I was experiencing more range of motion and less tension, by the second session I had no pain in my upper back, I'd definitely recommend anyone who is looking for physical relief to check out Autumn body therapy

First- Ryan is a very kind, grounded, and a welcoming person. The way he presents himself and his work shows professionalism, care, and compassion for the people he helps. It takes the right kind of person to help with other peoples pain and he is very in tune and a calm presence. Second- Ryan helped get rid of the pain and deep, chronic knots in my neck and shoulders. I was in so much pain and in the first 10 minutes I had relief I haven’t felt in a long time. As someone with chronic pain, feeling that relief was honestly impressive and something I’m so grateful for. I went home and was so excited to tell my husband about my experience! I would definitely say this is something everyone should do and would recommend having Ryan be the person to help you.

I had a session with Ryan, and it was exactly what I needed. The work he does is both healing and deeply restorative. He was very attentive and skilled, getting to the root of my discomfort instead of just providing a surface-level massage. The space itself is quiet and professional. I left with a sense of relief and calm that I haven't felt in a long time. I will absolutely be back and would recommend him to anyone.

Self-Care

Creating space for this work is more than self-care; it’s a way of coming back to your own rhythm. In a world that pushes us to go faster, achieve more, and hold everything together, our bodies often carry the weight of it all. Here, we slow down. We listen to the subtle cues of your nervous system, explore the places that feel tense or disconnected, and invite your body back into balance.
