Somatic Therapy: Reconnecting with the Human Experience.
You are most likely here because your friend or counselor suggested somatics. Maybe you've been seeking relief from chronic pain, panic, tension, or discomfort that just won't clear up, no matter how much you change your diet, vent, or get run medical tests.

Somatic therapy is a body-based approach to healing that pairs with and goes beyond talk therapy and traditional massage. In my Phoenix practice, sessions focus on the connection between your mind, body, and nervous system. Through guided awareness of body sensations, movement, breath, and supportive touch, your body will re-learn to release stress and trauma and begin to heal itself.

Somatic Therapy
in Phoenix
Rediscover Ease. Release What doesn't Serve You.
Somatic therapy recognizes that stress and trauma are not purely mental; they also live in the body. In the same way, muscular pain and tightness aren't always a physiological issue. Many first hear about this concept in Bessel van der Kolk’s The Body Keeps the Score. By noticing sensations and gradually releasing held patterns, energy, and emotions, we can balance both the physical body and emotional experience. Sessions are designed to help you heal while giving you the tools to continue to heal yourself long after you leave.
Relieve unexplained chronic tension & pain.
Reduce persistent anxiety, panic, & overwhelm.
Heal from trauma
& PTSD.
Build resilience, presence, & self-awareness.
What to Expect in a Session

Every session is different because every body is different. Everyone's history and experience are different, and all of these change on a day-to-day basis. Our goal is to get your body to a place that it can handle these inevitable variations, good and bad, with ease. Your session will be guided by what you need in that exact moment.
The session may include:

-
Check-in: Sharing your goals, challenges, and health history.
-
Grounding: Breath, orientation, and building a sense of safety in the body.
-
Exploring sensation: Tracking bodily sensations, noticing patterns, and allowing the body to "speak" to you.
-
Gentle release: Subtle motions, guided touch, or micro-movements to help free stored tension. What has your body needed to do or say that it hasn't been able to?
-
Supportive Touch: Many sessions will include massage or energy work to support this process. Modalities draw from fascial work, Swedish massage, craniosacral, and Reiki.
-
Integration: We close with grounding tools and coming "back to Earth" so that you feel ready for the rest of your day. Most clients feel renewed, a calm aliveness after the session.

We will communicate throughout the process. This is a gentle practice, and while some of the experience may be challenging emotionally, it will not be painful.

The Science Behind Somatic Therapy
Somatic therapy aligns with trauma research by experts such as Dr. Peter Levine (Somatic Experiencing®) and Dr. Bessel van der Kolk and was developed from research in neuroscience, psychology, and physiology. We now understand how trauma and chronic stress affect the body, often creating patterns of tension, pain, disease, and dysregulation when ignored.

When the body perceives a threat, the autonomic nervous system can get stuck in “fight, flight, or freeze” responses. Somatic therapy helps restore balance by guiding the body back into a calm, resting state. Through awareness of sensations, micro-movements, and safe release of stored energy, you can build new neural pathways, learning to move between resting and ready without getting stuck at one end of the spectrum.
