Founder’s Story

The work that I perform requires a level of openness from my clients, so it’s only fair that I show the same vulnerability. Right?

I wasn’t always doing this work.

On paper, 2016 to 2020 looked like the dream. I was in the business world, running a team of 12, and competing in CrossFit. My body looked healthy, I was consistent, and in a welcomed cliche, I had built a life that I had always dreamed of.

One domino fell, and it exposed every piece of myself that was unresolved. I separated from my wife in 2019, and months later, an injury left me unable to compete athletically. What started as an intentional athletic break was the catalyst for inner work that I had never planned for, but I can find gratitude in today. In January of 2020, during a warmup that I had done every day for 3 years, my body collapsed. The emotional response that day seemed like disappointment in myself, but, in reality, it was the realization that my body and nervous system had finally had enough.

For each of the three years that I competed, I spent a year with severely limited function. Daily gut pain. Workout resistance, meaning if I lifted moderately for more than 15 minutes, it would take me days to walk. In 6 months, my 195lb athletic frame dropped to 170lbs. Daily activities were exhausting, and doctors didn’t help. Gastroenterologist, endocrinologist, and every other -ologist you can name, I was lucky to have insurance. Still, I spent over $10,000 on supplemental testing and treatment in desperation.

Trust Your Gut, Take The Leap

I don’t often talk about ketamine therapy. I know it wasn't the root of what helped me, but it was what drew me to the treatment. Fed up and at a loss, I was willing to try anything. Like many of the best things in my life, from acro yoga to living in Phoenix, this treatment came as an intuitive hit with zero logical backing.

I got a name and a phone number. I had a 5-minute consult, and soon I was at a practitioner’s house. I always wonder how people feel about coming into my home for treatment, but I remember the power of receiving professional treatment in someone’s personal sanctuary. Many of the deepest healing modalities happen outside of a doctor’s office.

I didn’t even know I had signed up for bodywork. I knew it was $555. The massage table's speakers vibrated my entire body. There were no sheets or drapes, just athletic shorts. The pressure was deeper than any massage I had ever received. Something about the combination of the practitioner’s presence and the technique; something clicked.

I still say that was the first time my body ever let go. And as I say to clients today, all you need is one time. Once you learn how, every other time is easier.

2 Hours Changed Everything

If he still lived in Phoenix, I would see him every month. Two hours and $555, every penny worth it. I knew this was the work I had to do. I had never considered massage therapy, but found myself in a mentorship two months later.

I’m grateful for my schooling, especially as it got me my licence, but I knew I needed more. Where is the emotional component? Where is the healing? While in school, I joined Somatic Experiencing International, where I began a three-year journey into somatics, nervous system regulation, and trauma healing.

My dedication to SEI helped me take bodywork from the massage table to a verbal practice, helping clients renegotiate and clear traumatic experiences and symptoms. I found that while I was ready, if not overdue, for the work I received in my first session, my clients rarely are. I offer this range of work that mirrors talk therapy to a fully non-verbal massage treatment because everyone is different.

Body // Mind

Knowing my own body’s capacity, and wanting to exponentially increase my capabilities, I went back to school for psychology, earning my bachelor's, and at the time of this writing, I am in a master's program at Northern Arizona University studying clinical mental health counseling.

This combination of body and mind is the magic that I bring to the world, and I know it’s the magic that many people need.

Acts of Service

I work with clients who have experienced similar symptoms of depletion, burnout, and constant anxiety or pain. I work with those who have experienced a traumatic event and have had a significant life impact. I also work with people who know there is something stuck, or something more they could experience. Finally, I work with people who know that massage therapy is far deeper than the muscles, and with my training and intention, we find far deeper results per session.

I’ve been where you are. I understand it deeply. And in most cases, I can help you get unstuck.

I offer discovery calls as a way to get to know my personality and style before committing to a session. I get it. It can be scary. I know because I was in your shoes. I suggest that you take the leap and follow your intuition. You didn’t find this page by accident.
